Susan Mueni Wambua
Susan Mueni Wambua started feeling sick towards the end of 2007. By the time she discovered she had cancer, it was too late to save her limb. She lost her leg in July of 2008 at only 19 years old. She dropped out of school due to her ailing health, and struggled to adjust to her new life without a limb. She was fitted with a single-axis knee, but according to Susan it was too "heavy and bulky" for her to walk effectively.
She was fitted with the LIMBS Knee in November of 2009. The increased flexibility and lightness of the knee joint has improved her gait, and provided her with greater opportunities to get work. Since being fitted with the LIMBS Knee, she has been able to start her job training as a pharmaceutical chemist.
