Chuy

Picture
Like many of his countrymen, Chuy lost his leg to diabetes. Unable
to afford a prosthetic leg, he had to rely on the use of crutches to
move around. Unwilling to settle for this restricted lifestyle, Chuy
with the help of his friends, attempted to fabricate a leg to help him
regain his mobility. They used metal, plastic soda bottles, paper
mache, duct tape and even a leg from a table. Despite their ingenuity
and several attempts, Chuy was still unable to walk.

Fortunately, he heard about the work that LIMBS is doing in Juarez
and made contact. LIMBS not only provided Chuy with a leg, but is
now working with him through the rehabilitation process. Through it
all, Chuy has not lost his perseverant spirit and is working hard
learning to walk again.
