Cristian

Cristian is 14 years old. His right leg was first broken in a family fight when he was only two months old and broken a second time when he was five years old. Doctors operated on him to set the fracture, but it quickly got infected
and he had to be amputated below the knee.
After continued abuse from his parents his mother abandoned him and his brother with their great-grandmother, but when she fractured her hip, they were handed off to their maternal grandmother who still takes care of them.
Their grandparents didn't have enough money to support the boys so they would beg on the city street corners. When one of our orthopedists was driving downtown, he saw them and invited Cristian to join the program.
