Israel Rivas was a working man living in El Salvador. One morning, he missed the bus to get to his job. He called on a friend of his to take him to work. On their way, traffic came to a sudden halt. Horror followed as they discovered the brakes in the car failed and the car slammed into the back of a bus. Israel woke to find himself in a hospital. The doctor said that his leg was crushed in the wreck. For the next several weeks, many attempts were made to repair Israel's leg, but nothing seemed to work. An amputation soon followed.
Due to his lack of mobility, Israel lost his job. However, he refused to let himself give up. With the help and support of his family, he was able to find a clinic that was partnering with LIMBS International. Now that he has received his leg and is attending rehab, Israel is hopeful for the future as he plans to rejoin the work force.
