Jose Castillo
Jose Castillo was an active working man living in El Salvador. After a long day at work, he was eager to get home to his family. He was walking down the stairs when he slipped on a step and fell down a flight of stairs. He felt an excruciating feeling in his foot and called for help. His coworkers heard his cries and rushed him to the hospital. Once there they found a fracture and Jose had his foot reset, but due to the doctors' negligence, he did not realize the tissue around the fracture was damaged. An infection began to grow and spread inside of his leg muscles. Before long, the infection had spread through his leg, and Jose returned to the hospital for an amputation.
The next few years were a difficult journey for Jose. He lost his job due to the loss of his mobility, his wife struggled to pay the bills, and it was easy for Jose to lose hope and fall into depression. While a friend was visiting Jose and his family, they told them of a clinic that was partnering with LIMBS. They made their way to the clinic as soon as possible. Jose was fitted for a new leg and was given the rehab he needed. Now with his new prosthetic, Jose finally has a sense of hope as he plans to get a new job to help support his family. |
