Luis Gomez
Luis Alfonso Gomez was diagnosed with diabetes at a young age. He went for a walk one evening, and while he was walking, he stepped on a rusty nail. Since his diabetes caused him to lose feeling in his feet, he didn’t know that the nail had gone into his flesh. Over time an infection developed in his foot and had started to spread through his leg. When he went to the doctor, he was told that the infection had become gangrenous and that they would need to amputate his leg.
After his amputation, he was shown lots of support through his family. They took him to a clinic partnering with LIMBS International. Thanks to generous donations, he was able to be refit with a new prosthetic leg. He is now attending physical rehab and is seeking independence. |
