Mon
Sometimes, there are medical cases that can be age specific. Then there are medical cases that don’t discriminate age. Mon Mom learned that at a very young age. At 7 years old, Mon was outside playing and running. Landmines dotted the area after a previous war. Mon stepped on one of these landmines. Mon was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the blast had torn apart the tissue in his legs. They were not healing like they needed to and the tissue began to die. An amputation soon followed.
Mon didn’t receive a limb till he was 12. He tried not to let the amputation slow him down. He married, had a son, and works as a farmer and sells charcoal and firewood to provide for his family. While he had all of that going for him, his life was very tough. In order to get to town, Mon had to walk a long distance since his family lives out in the country and taxis do not drive far out of town. Mon’s knee began to show some signs of wear over the years and the screws became loose. Soon the knee became so lose it was difficult to get to the clinic in town. Mon soon learned about a clinic in town that was partnering with Limbs. Mon rested and gathered the energy to make it to town. Once he made it to the clinic, he was fitted with a LIMBS leg. After physical rehab, Mon is happy with the stability and support from the foot and leg. He is happy to be walking and working hard to provide for his family again.
