Ramon

Ramon is 35 years of age and lost his leg when he was just 9 years old. One day, while cutting grass in a field with a machete, he missed his target and cut his leg. The leg got infected and was amputated leaving a short residual leg. For 6 long years he endured without an artificial limb of any kind. Finally, at the age of 15 he was fitted with a prosthetic leg. Unfortunately, this leg was wooden, heavy, (weighing more than 40 pounds) and over time became too short as Ramon grew. Ramon walked with this leg for 20 years. He was fitted with a new, light weight LIMBS Knee on June 18, 2012 and his reaction was pure joy! He put his hands in the air as if he had just won the Olympics when he took his first steps.
Ramon owns his own barber shop and had a fabulous spirit and wonderful attitude. He is also married and has three children. Because of the nature of his occupation, the locking mechanism on the new production line LIMBS Relief Knee, will provide Ramon with the option of locking his knee in place as he stands many hours in the same position. Ramon is a reminder to us all of why LIMBS does what it does and his wonderful and infectious smile speaks volumes. |
